Praying Through the Scriptures in a Year Project Campaign to Achieve 100 “Shares / Retweets” ● This is Gospel. ● This is Bible. ● This is Avalon. We hope you will join us as we “pray through the Scriptures” together this year. Follow and “Share” us on Twitter (@davidriekeblog) or Facebook at “The Praying Through the Scriptures in a Year Project.”
Special thanks to all who hosted and attended Home Fellowship Groups this past week. We appreciate all the “one-anothering” that took place, all the work it took to make our gatherings so warm and pleasant.
Appreciation to all the ladies who worked so hard to organize our Ladies Christmas Party. So many wonderful people volunteered and went out of their way to set up the room, host tables, invited people, etc. It’s a huge undertaking, and we appreciate all the effort that went into it.
All Avalon young people, ages four through high school seniors, are invited to join Ben in the gym today, at the end of the music segment of our worship service, for Christmas program rehearsal. We have just three more Sunday rehearsals to prepare for our December 17 Christmas Program!
Note: Elder board meet today at our new time, 2:30 p.m.
● December 17 | Sunday, 6:00 p.m. | Christmas Program | Christmas never seems quite right until we attend Avalon’s Christmas Program! Beautiful children and talented adults (our own friends!) perform for us, and our carols are “real,” and our hearts are warm. Don’t miss this holiday-defining treat!
● December 24 | Sunday, 4:30 p.m. | Christmas Eve Service | Since Christmas Eve falls on a Sunday this year, we will have no morning worship service or Sunday School ministries. Our one service for the day will be an hour-long service in the early evening at 4:30 (before your Christmas Eve celebrations with friends and family begin), and we’ll have something special for all the children to enjoy on their big “night before Christmas.”
● December 31 | Sunday | New Year’s Eve Day | We will be in our normal Sunday ministry routine for New Year’s Eve Day. No particular celebration for the evening is being planned but, as always, we encourage Avalon members to extend uncommon hospitality to old and new friends on this holiday weekend. L
(Note: No Awana Kids Clubs on December 20, 27, nor January 3, but we will have our usual Wednesday adult and teen ministries on all of these dates.)
Be of good courage, and let us be strong for our people and for…our God. And may the Lord do what is good in His sight. (2Samuel 10:12)
Would you like to get more involved at Avalon? Please contact one of the Pastoral Staff if you would like to volunteer!
Security Ministry: In light of recent news headlines, we are reminded that this would be a poor time to neglect our Avalon Security Ministry. Kevin Foster is hoping to recruit several additional volunteers to “patrol” the property during our Sunday services. Please see Kevin for details.
Hospitality Ministry: Never forget that the ministry AHBC needs most of all just now, and always, is the ministry of reaching out to others in love — to believers and non-believers — by doing favors and acts of love, having others over to your house, inviting them out for coffee or dessert, or to the services and events of our church, sending personal notes, and just keeping in touch via text messages, Facebook, etc.
Children’s Church Ministry: Thank you to those who serve in Children’s Ministry each week. Would you like to help with the Children’s Church Ministry? Talk with Quentin Tilman and express your interest.
Nursery, Children’s Church, Yard Work, Thrifty Nook Hauling, Panera Bread Hauling: These Ministries Always Need Fresh Volunteers.
